It was decided late this week to cancel the Western New York Soccer Showcase
Tournament because of the recent take-over of the facility by the Town of West
Seneca. We feel that we cannot control our tournament in regards to field
conditions, layout, staff, concession and revenue. The decision for West Seneca to
take-over the facility was a bit sudden and unforeseen to us running the tournament.
Unfortunately, there is too much risk for us to run the tournament and for many
reasons, such as the absence of the staff from last year, who have been let-go by the
Town. We truly felt that this was going to be our biggest year. The tournament had
such a presence last year and was reaching a new quality level in tournament
hosting. We wanted to bring the best tournament possible to the families and
children of Western New York but there were too many uncertainties and risks that we felt
that it would hinder our ability to provide the tournament at a high quality level.
The club did not want the athletes and families of the tournament to be subjected to the
unknown and inexperienced staff assuming the parks operations.
We thank all who have played in our tournament and those who wished to
participate this year. It has been a great 13 year ride and we thank all of the clubs and
players for their support. All entries are fully refunded by May 1st. Our deepest regrets
for not being to provide a truly great experience to the children and teams. We hope you
understand.
